When we were invited to Mont Tremblant for a winter weekend getaway last month, I had but one stipulation: please, for the love of all things good and holy, please put us in a room with a king-sized bed and a separate area for the kids to sleep.
Enter Le Westin Resort & Spa, nestled in the heart of Tremblant’s picturesque village.
THE GOOD
Le Westin recently underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation, and it shows. The decor is fresh and modern, but still warm and welcoming. The lobby in particular was really something, with a HUGE copper-fronted fireplace that drew everyone to it as soon as we walked through the front door.
Only about a three-minute walk to the “Mont” part of Tremblant, Le Westin is ideally located in the centre of all the action. It’s close to numerous restaurants, shops and non-ski activities (like pottery and stuffed bear-building).
A killer outdoor heated pool and hot tub. I wish I had pictures of this but we went down to the pool in just our skivvies and I didn’t take a camera — so you’ll have to take my word for it. GORGEOUS. Twinkling lights overlooking the night sky with snow drifting down on your shoulders, all while your body is in water so warm you might forget it’s winter. I’m sure it’s pretty in the summer out there, too, but it was simply magical near Christmastime.
Our room was spectacular. Yes, for a two-bedroom suite, you’re talking about a $650+ price tag per night (but it sure is nice to have that much living space!); however, with rooms starting around the $350 per night mark, there are less expensive options — and those rooms still come with Westin’s infamous Heavenly Bed. Which is, as the name suggests, absolutely heavenly. Same goes for the pillows.
Gorgeous views from both of our windows, like this one:
Access to a good breakfast option without leaving the comfort of your hotel — or even your room for that matter. Gypsy Restaurant on the main floor had a pretty robust breakfast buffet, with super-fresh pastries, cereals, bread and bagels (with lox!) as well as an omelette bar, managed by this wonderful chef who will greet you with a smile each morning.
We encountered nothing but friendly, helpful staff from the minute we arrived until the minute we left.
THE GAFFE
My only complaint is that our bed linens weren’t changed. I may have missed a sign that instructed this request, but at more than $600 a night, I certainly want bedsheets changed — especially if you could clearly tell they needed it (which you could in this case). Children are dirty. Well, mine are at least.
