As I sit down to write this post about Boogie Wipes, I am legitimately using Boogie Wipes.
Because in addition to my seasonal allergies, I also have a pretty terrific cold right now that’s turned my nose into a faucet.
I use paper facial tissues too, of course, but I pull out the Boogie Wipes when I know I’ll be doing more than the occasional wipe — because they stop the hurt.
You know that red, raw pain and the flaky skin you (and your kids) get all around your nostrils when you’ve been wiping for days? Enter the Boogie Wipe! They’re wet (with a natural saline-aloe-chamomile-vitamin E concoction), so they really soothe as they wipe.
I first discovered Boogie Wipes at a baby show back when The K Man was brand new. So we’re talking at least eight-and-a-half years ago. They didn’t make his face sour, body squirm or hands flail when I needed to get snot off his nose and face — especially those super-crusty ones that seem to build up overnight when your kiddo is sick — so I simply kept a pack in our diaper bag at all times.
Since then, the travel-sized Boogie Wipes have maintained a residence in my Mom Purse (you know, along with a pen, mini hand cream, Tylenol, granola bars…just in case).
It’s not unusual for me carry a pack with us when we travel either; in a pinch, they can double up as face and hand wipes and they also do quite a good job of cleaning off airplane trays.
Why a saline wipe?
If you look at the ingredients on any pack of Boogie Wipes, you’ll see sodium chloride. That’s saline, and it’s a mineral found in both the earth and the body. And it turns out that it’s really good at breaking up and thinning out mucus (a.k.a. snot).
Boogie Wipes products are made with 0.9 per cent isotonic saline. This is a sterile mixture of salt and water in the right concentration to do its job. Interestingly, it’s also a concentration that’s similar to tears, blood and other body fluids.

Each pack has a re-sealable lid to lock in all that saline goodness. In all the years I’ve been buying Boogie Wipes, I’ve only had one pack dry out — and that’s because I kind of forgot about them in the depths of my Mom Purse. I still couldn’t tell you how long they were in there.
Boogie Wipes come in three smells. There’s my kids’ fave — Great Grape — and Fresh Scent, but I prefer the Simply Unscented, which has no fragrance at all.
Oh, and before you head to the store, be sure to grab a coupon here. Happy sneezing shopping!
