It’s bum week here at Mommy Gearest, I think. Earlier this week, I posted a review of Charmin bathroom tissue. And today, it’s Pampers.
If you read my Huffington Post piece about the cloth vs. disposable diaper debate, you know that I think each choice has merit.
At the P&G mom event that was held at the end of 2012, I was able to speak directly with the Pampers team and voice some concerns I had about the product. Rumours abound on the Internet that Pampers uses a cancer-causing chemical called dioxin in its diapers.
Let’s put the rumours to rest: there is no dioxin in Pampers. Anymore. Yes – there was at one time, but it’s been 10 long years.
The team was kind enough to send me home with a package of Pampers Cruisers, since they knew I still use disposables at night (I have yet to find a cloth diaper option that works all night).
Here’s the thing: I’ve never used Pampers beyond hospital walls. By the time the freebies we got from the nurses ran out, both my babies were big enough for size one diapers and we used Huggies. They worked well for both kids, so I never bothered with another brand.
But people are fiercely loyal to their Pampers, and now I know why.
At the P&G mom event, I watched the Pampers rep pour four blue cups of water into a single diaper. It didn’t leak. Nor did any leak during the 12- to 13-hour nights that Miss Q wore them at our house.
Although I still prefer the overall fit of Huggies for my kid (every baby’s body is different!), I would now buy Pampers Cruisers if they were on sale and less expensive than Huggies the day I happen to be at the grocery store.
And on-sale is key for me. I generally don’t buy diapers unless they’re on sale or I have a coupon. I do a little happy dance when there’s a sale and I have a coupon; double-dipping rocks.
But what if you didn’t have to buy diapers for a whole year?
It could happen.
Use your Pampers Gifts to Grow points for a chance to win one year’s worth of Pampers diapers. Cha-ching! The Pampers crew will select one winner every month who will receive about $800 worth of diapers.
What would you do with an extra $800?

With #4 kid due soon and having given all my cloth away with no way to afford them upfront this time around, this would be incredibly helpful!

I’m too obsessed with my cloth diapers to use them myself, but I’d love to be able to pass the prize along to a friend, Diapers get pricey!

I have to admit – I am a huge Pampers fan. All four of my kids have/had sensitive bums and Pampers has been the only diaper that they have been able to wear without problems. I would love to win this for my two little guys!
